On the Blog Post Dual Accreditation: DeKalb's Safety Net

ReplyI read this whole article a couple of times and still do not understand what dual accreditation is. I understand that Restore DeKalb supports it and their reasons for doing so, but have no idea what it is that they support. What are the two types of accreditation? What entities provide each type? How do you get both? Do other school systems have it?

Dookie Doo used these specific words: "Tyrone", "shaniqua", "hood", and "ghetto". That meets my definition of racist. This thread is about an apartment project yet somehow nasty, hateful comments get posted. Some folks have to spout that kind of filth no matter what the topic.

ReplyBut it's mostly cash. I try to hit the ATM before going. They sell tokens that you can pay for by credit card but there's a fee.

ReplyI doubt that Dookie Doo lives in the City of Decatur. You don't usually hear that kind of nastiness and filth in Decatur. We may argue about the development of our downtown or our school master plan but we don't hide behind racist taunts.

So what IS the legal definition of robbery vs. burglary? I always thought the former was a crime against people, because force was used, i.e. a weapon, and the latter was a crime against property.

The meeting was moved up, ahead of spring break, right? And the topic was postponed.

ReplyJK: I think you are confusing robocalls with eblasts. Eblasts are emails. Still free except for the labor. We get many a day about sports, counseling, events, IB, etc. We could get active info about Board or CSD Admin plans that way too. In fact, it would be great to get a copy of the agenda and Superintendent's letter to the Board 3-5 work days before the monthly Board meeting. I'll bet attendance would go up.

The following questions in the article and poll are very different from one another. The answers to the poll only address one of them:
-Would You Want a Gun Range Next Door? (title)
-Would you be concerned if an indoor shooting range opened in your community? (poll)
-Would you want an indoor shooting range in your community? (question posed in article)
Would You Want a Gun Range Next Door?
No, because I live on a residential street. I don't want an indoor shooting range nor a coffeehouse nor a music venue nor a fitness club nor a house of worship next me. I want a house next to me.
Would you be concerned if an indoor shooting range opened in your community?
Concerned? Not really. I wouldn't be excited about it nor plan to frequent it, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
Would you want an indoor shooting range in your community?
Want? No because I have no interest in one nor do I see much local benefit. Certainly it wouldn't add much aesthetically. There's a lot of things I want to see in my community--a movie theater, independent bookstore, European style bakery, and shooting range just isn't on the list.
