Lawrence's Cafe Now Open in Decatur

The Lebanese restaurant moved from Buford Highway to West College Avenue, next to Revolution Donuts and Ale Yeah!

Lawrence's Cafe, a Lebanese restaurant, reopened this week at 910 West College Ave. in Decatur. Owner Tony Chebib operated the restaurant for 22 years on Buford Highway, Atlanta's focal point for ethnic restaurants, before closing late last year. The new Lawrence's Cafe is next to Revolution Donuts and was previously occupied by Isabella's Cafe. Chebib said he moved because surveys showed the majority of his customers come from the Atlanta and Decatur areas. The old location is about eight miles away from the new spot. It has all new furniture but mostly the same menu as before, Chebib said. (See attached photos of the menu.) He's still fine tuning. For instance, the restaurnant website has not been updated yet.

Chebib said he needs a few permits from the City of Decatur before he can begin operating at 910 W. College Ave. in the building also occupied by Revolution Donuts, Ale Yeah! and Avelino's. He's moving because surveys showed 75 percent of his customers come from the Atlanta and Decatur areas, he said. The old location is about eight miles away. Chebib said he needs to open soon because the Buford Highway location has already closed. Right now the Decatur space, previously occupied by …

I've been a loyal customer for five years-- 3 to 4 times a week--and am thrilled about the new opening. Have been on a starvation diet while waiting! Best humus, best tabbouleh, best tahini and best falafels I've had most anywhere.   more ›
