Decatur Is Storytelling Central

Tellers of tales will gather Tuesday at Eddie's Attic and Sunday on the Decatur Square. In June and July, it's Log Cabin Storytelling for kids.

There's no shortage of storytelling in Decatur these days. At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, Stories on the Square takes place at Eddie's Attic. From 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, the Southern Order of Storytellers will present Stories Squared, a "storytelling concert," in the Decatur Square. In June and July, the DeKalb History Center will hold Log Cabin Storytelling for kids, with a different activity each week connected to storytelling. Storytelling Comes To Eddie's Attic

'Stories on the Square' will convene at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday

Shannon McNeal sent Patch an email about "Stories on the Square," an open mic event at which anybody can tell their personal story. "Stories on the Square" starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Eddie's Attic in Decatur. No cover charge. For a taste of what you might hear, go to Virginia Highlands Patch and hear McNeal tell a story last fall at a similar event held at Manuel's Tavern. Patch asked McNeal how the Eddie's Attic event came about and she told us this story.
