A Place For Nugget The Puppy

As an unwanted puppy, Nugget was smaller than a cup of soda. Now she's a young dog looking for her perfect home.

Mickie Blair attracts homeless dogs. She's mostly a cat person (good thing too, because she heads up most of the feline care and cat-saving operations at LifeLine Animal Project in Avondale Estates) but homeless dogs consider her irresistible, too. "They find me," she says, "no matter where I go." One day last year she was picking up a community cat that had mistakenly been taken to animal control when she was approached by a man in the parking lot. "Want a puppy?" he asked. "What kind of puppy?" Blair asked back, stalling for time while she tried to figure out where this exchange was leading. Puppy Dog Tales

Clyde and Danika are two lively pups saved from sure death. Now all they want is a person to lick and a place to call home.

There's something about puppies. Young dogs have such zeal for life and the world around them that they can remind us of a more idealistic world, one that often gets lost to us in hurry, work and worry as we mature.  Most people will take a moment out of even their busiest day when a puppy comes into view. Writer Elizabeth von Arnim, who entitled her life story, "All The Dogs Of My Life" once wrote, "I would recommend to those persons who are inclined to stagnate, whose blood is beginning to thicken sluggishly in their veins, to try keeping four dogs, two of which are puppies."
