Life Without Parole: Former Security Guard Guilty on All Charges in Deadly Midtown Shooting Spree

Jurors took less than two hours to find Nkosi Thandiwe guilty in the shooting of three women in Midtown.

  UPDATE: 5:17 pm Nkosi Thandiwe has been sentenced to life without parole. There was no rejoicing or tears visible when the verdict was announced in the courtroom, just a general sense of sadness. UPDATE: 4:30 pm Brian Watts, the husband of the woman who died in the shooting spree, testified during Thursday afternoon's sentencing hearing that he lost his soulmate the day his wife was killed. "I'm truly lost," he said. "I realize that the worst day of my life has passed, but I also realize the best days of my life are passed." Other members of the Watts family asked the judge to impose the maximum sentence of life without parole. Alleged Midtown Shooter Undergoes Psychological Evaluation

Nkosi Thandiwe, who worked as a security guard, is charged in the triple shooting that killed Decatur resident Brittney Watts and injured two others.

The security guard accused of killing Decatur resident Brittney Watts and shooting two others in Midtown last week, is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation, according to his lawyer. The attorney, Ricky Richardson, told Patch Thursday that the evaluation of suspect Nkosi Thandiwe, 22, is likely to force the postponement of a scheduled appearance by his client in Fulton County Magistrate Court on July 29. “I think the case will be continued until there is a medical evaluation that is appropriate in this case,” Richardson said. “And pending the medical professionals’ findings, we will proceed to our next step.” Thandiwe is charged with murder in the shooting of Brittany Watts, 26, of Decatur, in the Proscenium building's parking deck on July …
