Lowery To Address Agnes Scott's MLK Convocation

The civil rights leader will be the guest speaker at 2 p.m. Jan. 18 in Gaines Chapel.

  Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday, Jan. 21. It's a state and local holiday, meaning schools and most government offices will be closed, but it will be busy. On Friday, Jan. 18, Agnes Scott College will hold an MLK Convocation at 2 p.m.  in Gaines Chapel in Presser Hall. The Rev. Joseph E. Lowery, a Presidential Medal of Freedom Winner and civil rights leader, will speak. Agnes Scott says, A retired minister in the United Methodist Church and the third president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Lowery participated in many major activities of the American civil rights movement.
