Have you got something to say? Just like to write? This Patch wants you.
The Decatur/Avondale Estates Patch is looking for local bloggers on the site. We want people who can riff on various topics, share their personality and engage our readers in discussions. Patch is more than a news site, it's an online conversation about your community. Then, we want to hear from you. This isn't a reporting job. It's blogging. You write what you want to say when you want to say it. Do it on your schedule, whether that's posting multiple entries per day or a couple times a month. There's no pay, but Patch won't own what you post, so you can repost your entries to your other blogs. The website has updated its format so you can more easily find the information you want.
No, you're not losing it! Patch looks different today. We did a quick visual nip-and-tuck to the homepage to make it even more user-friendly. And we've moved a couple pieces of furniture. For those keeping score: * We tweaked some words in our navigation bar to save space (e.g., "Traffic & Gas" is now "Commute") * We moved the weather icon next to the Patch branding so you can find it more quickly! * We moved, well, YOU closer to the top! (Our "shout stream" is now front and center to show all your comments off.) * And of course we prettified a few things. A year ago today, Decatur Patch was born. Over the past 12 months, my predecessor, Renee Degross Valdes, and I have worked to establish Patch as a fair and accountable news source for Decatur and Avondale Estates as well as a safe and engaging forum for discussion. Patch aims to inform, entertain and stimulate. As editor, my goal has been to make life easier for residents by serving as a community hub of information. For the moment, I want to take a deep breath and look back at some of the big stories of the last 365 days. They are listed in no particular order. Local Voices is listed under the News drop down box (added a year ago across Patch). Definitely worth checking out is the newest blogger, Anna Benefield. And if you missed out on Nicki Salcedo's Adventures in Parenting series, you should immediately plug it into the search field and get to reading!
