The “staycation” was big news two years ago as the media kindly tried to make us feel better about our plummeting retirement accounts and the fact we couldn’t afford to go away. According to the Air Transport Association, plans for travel this summer are up, but still below 2007 levels. Trendy or out of fashion, a week at home in Decatur was a great idea before the economic meltdown and remains a great idea now. But, just because we’re staying home, it does not mean planning is not required and that we should spend the week doing house projects. No! It’s still a vacation!
