The Private Bank of Decatur opened Monday morning at offices in the middle of downtown Decatur -- the first floor of Decatur Town Center at 150 E. Ponce de Leon Ave. The bank is a branch of the Private Bank of Buckhead. The president of the Private Bank of Decatur is Judy Turner, a longtime community banker in Decatur. The Private Bank of Decatur made it official Wednesday by putting up a banner at its office location at at One Decatur Town Square. B. Andrew Plant of Plant Communications said renovation of the first floor offices at 150 E. Ponce de Leon Ave. starts Saturday and buildout is projected to finish Oct. 15. Bank President Judy Turner has said the bank hopes to open for business in the fall, though no exact date has been provided. I would like to comment to "taxus". When DFB went into the Lake Oconee area to offer them the same community banking experience that we offered in Decatur, it was a thriving community and our loans were not considered risky.
