The jewelry store and art gallery on West Ponce is having a going-out-of-business sale the next few days.
There still some merchandise left in Alexia Gallery, which is holding a going-out-of-business sale over the next few days. Besides jewelry and art objects, furniture and fixtures will also be sold from the store at 335 W. Ponce de Leon Ave. in Decatur. The store will be open 4-7 p.m. most days, though hours may be extended on Saturday. To check hours, stop by the store or visit the Alexia Gallery Facebook page.

Store's closure comes after co-owner's death from breast cancer.
A little more than a month following the death of owner Corinne Herbst, the Alexia Gallery will cease operations at the end of this week. Ms. Herbst, a beloved gemologist with a loyal following in the greater Decatur area, died Jan. 16 following her battle with breast cancer. "The rumors are true," read a posting on the store's Facebook page. "With Corinne's passing, Alexia Gallery is closing." The store was closed Tuesday. It is expected to reopen for limited hours for the remainder of the week to sell remaining fixtures and displays. The store will celebrate the life of owner Corinne Herbst on Saturday.
Corinne Herbst, owner of the Alexia Gallery, has passed away, according to a post by her son, Jared, on the store's Facebook page. Jared wrote: "It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing Corinne's passing on January 16th due to complications from breast cancer. I have tried to reach most of her friends and family before posting this, but I know I missed some. Corinne was a beloved gemologist and jewelry designer in the industry for more than 25 years.
