The Museum School

The Museum School opened in August 2010 and is the first theme school of its type in the state of Georgia. At theMore Museum School, students learn through partnerships with museums and other community organizations in a project-based curriculum. The students learn at places including The Georgia Aquarium, High Museum and Atlanta History Center. Plans call for the addition of the more grades up to 8th.

The school plans to relocate to a permanent facility in fall 2012.

International Community School

The International Community School (ICS) is a charter school for refugee and immigrant students from across the world.More It is located at the Avondale Pattillo United Methodist Church. It offers a full curriculum designed to educate and nurture children from a variety of different cultural backgrounds. The curriculum includes education in music and the arts, physical education, language, math and science. Children are taught English at the school and once they have mastered that, they move on to learning other languages. The school has two campuses.
Global Village School

The Global Village School is a nonprofit that provides educational training—including intensive EnglishMore language programs—to teenage girls ages 12 to 20 who are survivors of war and refugee camps. The school helps its students with enhanced academic programs in all subject areas but also incorporates essential life skills training.

The school formed out of what was called "Saturday School" to meet the needs of five teen survivors of war from Afghanistan. In June 2008, the Saturday School, in partnership with the Agnes Scott College, was awarded a $200,000 grant from the Atlanta Women's Foundation to pilot an expanded program and open a full-day school for 30 teenage refugee girls.
