Neighbors and friends on Ponce de Leon Pl created a facsimile of a Guatemalan alfombra in honor of spring. During Holy Week in Guatemala, alfombras (meaning 'carpets') are made from colored sawdust and natural materials on the streets that are along the path of Easter processions. The art is ephemeral, destroyed by the passing of the sometimes massive processions, but are remade every year by the families and businesses that line the procession route.
