Andryannis Bistro Cafe

Marios Kitas proclaims that his is the most authentic Greek food in town. The standard Greek fare – gyros, hummus, falafel and Marios' specialty, spinach pie - is served side by side with American staples like pizza and burgers and Italian favorites like Chicken Marsala. The fruit smoothies are made fresh in the café and include flavors such as Pineapple Coconut and Acai Berry.

Hidden on the back side of the large Two Decatur Center Building, sandwich boards placed strategically along Clairemont Avenue draw downtown Decatur foot traffic into this bright and airy breakfast and lunch spot. The outdoor seating area at the entrance is breezy and intimate.

"Andryannis" is a combination of the names of the owners' son and daughter. "Everything is for them," Marios says proudly. The family friendly café's high chair for baby customers was first used by the Kitas children themselves. Kaliopy Kitas, a professional artist, painted a fire place and potted plants on the windowed walls of the establishment. Though Andryannis has been in Decatur only since 2008, Marios owned and operated a similar café in New York for 22 years.
