Here are five things to do this weekend in and around Decatur and Avondale Estates. For a full list of ideas, go to the Patch calendar of events.

1. Patio party. This will be the 10th year for this community event that raises money for the Community Center of South DeKalb. There will be music, food, drinks and kid stuff from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Solarium in Oakhurst. Check the Solarium website for ticket info.

2. Book launch. Susan Rebecca White's new novel, "A Place at the Table," describes the intertwined lives of three characters, one a gay man who grew up  near Agnes Scott College in the 1970s. There's a strong Southern food theme, so White will have a dialogue with food writer Susan Puckett of Decatur, author of "Eat Drink Delta." The event starts at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Decatur Library. Free.
