The meeting is being held to give the public an update to the $61 billion Regional Transportation Plan.

You've heard of pop-up restaurants and retail shops in vacant spaces?

How about a pop-up town hall?

The Atlanta Regional Commission is hosting a new style of informational gathering from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 515 North McDonough St., a vacant store in downtown Decatur.

The meeting is being held to give the public an update to the $61 billion Regional Transportation Plan.

The official public comment period for the plan update is from January 11 to February 21. During that time, there is a virtual open house available at: Transportation Plan Update.

There also will be an opportunity for public comment at the January 22 meeting of ARC’s Board of Directors.

The pop-up town hall format follows a survey ARC commissioned last year on community engagement.

In it, more than 2,000 respondents said they wanted more local, informative, fun and online choices to interact with ARC on issues.

It's a pilot idea that, if ARC finds to be successful, the agency will replicate in other community outreach efforts across metro Atlanta.
