Volunteers Needed in Decatur

You can give back by helping at the book festival, the Decatur Family Resource Fair and other community events.

Lee Ann Harvey, the volunteer coordinator for the City of Decatur, recently sent out this email with volunteer opportunities.

If you are 21 or over and would like to volunteer in the fall at the or the Decatur Wine Tasting Festival, please remember that you will receive priority placement at those festivals if you have volunteered at a qualifying event during the year. The Decatur Book Festival is the last qualifying event before those festivals. There is usually a waiting list to volunteer at the Craft Beer and Wine Tasting Festivals, so take advantage of this opportunity.

Please note – I am not signing up volunteers for the Craft Beer or Wine Tasting Festivals at this time. You will receive an email when the sign up begins. Volunteers who participated at multiple qualifying events and/or took a leadership role are moved higher up on the priority list. Qualifying events include 2011 Decatur Holiday Candlelight Tour of Homes, 2011 Decatur Season of Giving, 2012 Decatur Martin Luther King Jr. Service Project, 2012 Decatur Old House Fair, 2012 Decatur Arts Festival, 2012 Decatur Beach Party, and 2012 Decatur Book Festival. I appreciate everyone who supports Decatur throughout the year, so the priority list is a way to thank you for all you do for Decatur.
