AARP Foundation Seeks Volunteers for Aid Progam

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, a free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, seeks volunteers to help Georgia taxpayers who need help to prepare and filing their 2013 tax returns.

Volunteers do not need to be an AARP member or retiree to participate.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers will receive free tax training and are reimbursed on a limited basis for qualified program-related expenses. They will help taxpayers at sites around the state.

"We’ve assisted thousands of people in preparing and filing their tax returns,” Helen Lowenthal, district coordinator for most of DeKalb County, said in a statement.

“We could not do it without our volunteers, who make an indelible mark on the communities they help.”

In 2012, Tax-Aide volunteers helped more than 31,000 taxpayers statewide.

If you want to volunteer, visit the organization's website to register at: http://www.aarp.org/money/taxes/aarp_taxaide/.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is offered in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service.
