Where to Watch Fireworks

Decatur, Avondale Estates and other cities will light up the sky on the Fourth. Other holiday activities are listed.

Decatur: Fireworks begin at dark and will be shot from the top of the DeKalb County parking deck. You can watch from the Decatur Square or almost any other location downtown.

The July 4th Pied Piper Parade starts at the First Baptist Church of Decatur on Clairemont at 5:30 p.m. The parade starts at 6 p.m. and ends at the Community Bandstand with a presentation of colors and the Star Spangled Banner. If you're driving a vehicle you must register by completing the city's July 4th Pied Piper Parade Guidelines form.

A concert by the Callanwolde Concert Band begins at 7 p.m. at the bandstand.

Avondale Estates: Fireworks will be shot off at dark at Lake Avondale. The Bluenotes will perform at the lake.

Lineup for the city parade starts at 9:15 a.m. at Avondale High. The parade begins at 10 a.m.

Stone Mountain: If you want a good spot to set up a picnic or get a space on Memorial Lawn, get there early. The park's festivities start July 3 through July 4 lasting from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. The famous Lasershow starts at 9:30 a.m. and is followed by fireworks.

Lenox Square: Fireworks around 9:35 p.m. Jimmy Buffet tribute band Sons of Sailors begins the musical entertainment at 6 p.m., then Party on the Moon at 7:30 p.m.

Centennial Olympic Park: Fireworks start at about 9:40 p.m. According to the website, Centennial's fireworks are synchronized to patriotic and popular music. The park urges people to take MARTA .

Turner Field: Fireworks start after the Braves-Cubs game. The game starts at 7 p.m.
