Weekend Planner: Brick Store Bash, Zombies at the Library, 'Talking With,' Song Circle in East Lake, Jazz on Sunday Afternoon.

Don't just sit around this weekend -- Get out and do something.

When/where: A ticket-only party runs from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at the Brick Store Pub at 125 E. Court Square, Decatur. Other events happen through the week.

Why go: The brick store turned Decatur into the great beer town it is today. The Sunday party will benefit the DeKalb History Center and will feature special food, beer and music by jazzman Joe Gransden. There will be plenty of beer specials other days of the week, not to mention guest chefs in the kitchen.

When/where: 6 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the Decatur Library at 215 Sycamore St.

Why go: Teens 13-17 are invited to dress up as the "Walking Dead" for a night of games, movies and terror.

When/where: 8 p.m. Saturday, June 23, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at the Academy Theatre at 119 Center St., Avondale Estates. Also showing 8 p.m. June 28 and 30 and 2:30 p.m. July 1.

Why go: The subtitle is "One Night, Twelve Women, Twelve Monologues." The theatre says, "Talking With explores the thoughts, events, actions, memories, hope, defeats, and dreams of women in contemporary society. Each character confronts the audience directly with revelations that are not simply truthful, but deeply spiritual, hauntingly private, funny, and frighteningly exotic."

Price: $15 when purchased online.

When/where: 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, at at East Lake Commons at 900 Dancing Fox Road, Decatur.

Why go: This is group singing just for fun with no performances or auditions. Everybody's welcome. The group sings folk music, old standards, spirituals, political songs, pop, freedom songs, country, show tunes and more. For directions and gate code, call Bob at 404-378-5424.

Jazz Vocalist at the Decatur Library

When/where: 4 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at the Decatur Library at 215 Sycamore St.

Why go: Jazz vocalist Ja'Naan, a Cleveland native who now lives in Atlanta, interprets covers and originals.

Price: Free.

When/where: 7 a.m. Saturday, June 23, and Sunday, June 24, at the Starlight Drive-In, 2000 Moreland Ave. SE, Atlanta.

Why go: Bargains, bargains, bargains -- and lots of junk.Β 

Price: Free admission.

Third Annual Georgia Dachshund Races

When/where: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at Jim Miller Park at 2245 Callaway Road SW in Marietta.

Why go: This is not excactly local, but might be worth the drive to see these weiner dogs in action. People come from all over the country to compete and the winners advance to the nationals in Ohio.

Price: $5.
