Why Go: Every town has its history, whether celebrated or sordid, and every town has its haunts too. Why not learn a little more about the dearly departed of Decatur and the spirits who refuse to rest peacefully? It's an easy, accessible one-mile walk along paved sidewalks, so everyone can come, and every single stop on the tour contains claims of paranormal activity. Please make reservations by visiting their website and remember to bring your camera because you might capture some orbs and apparitions.
Price: Adults $15, $12 for ages 10 and under.

When/Where: Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Venetian Pools (150 Scott Boulevard)
Why Go: For a good cause--this is a swim-a-thon to benefit CURE Childhood Cancer. Katherine Athanassiades, an avid swimmer and longtime Venetian member, has a brain tumor and going through treatment inspired her to raise money for the people who have cared for her. Swimmers can sign up here or at the check-in desk on the day of the event. Pledge cards will also be available.
Price: Free, donations accepted
When/Where: From 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, across from the Chik-fil-a on McDonough St. (Nearest address is 498 N. McDonough St.)
Why Go: It's the second anniversary of Saturday markets and that's worthy of a celebration. Enjoy fun kids' activities, performances by the Decatur Ukulele Society, the Giant Peach Dude from Pearson Peaches, a chef demo by Billy Allin of Cakes and Ale, a silent auction and more! Plus, locally-grown good food galore.
Price: Free to enter--as for purchases made, that's up to you
When/Where: Starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, corner of West Howard Ave. and Commerce Dr.
Why Go: Help keep the community garden beautiful under the watchful eye of experienced gardeners (so don't worry if you're a beginner). There will be tools and refreshments, but they do advise you to bring your own work gloves. Also make sure to protect yourself from the sun, too. When/Where: Starting at noon on Saturday, Second Life Upscale Resale (1 N. Clarendon Avenue, Avondale Estates)
Why Go: Royal Potcake Rescue is putting on this in-store adoption and they do great work. They rescue homeless dogs and cats from the Bahamas, operate spay/neuter clinics on the islands too and specialize in saving the Royal Bahamian Potcake breed of dog. So, if you're looking to add a furry friend to your home, and also maybe do some shopping for yourself, this is a good event.
Price: Free to look, but adoption may cost
Also, don't forget that Father's Day is Sunday. Need gift ideas? See for some possibilities (hint: it seems like handmade, personal items are a big hit). If your dad's the sporty type, there's an Atlanta Braves game versus the Baltimore Orioles at 1:35 p.m. (click here for tickets). Or just enjoy a nice relaxing day at home with him.
