Heat, Storms Could Cancel 4th of July Events

Residents urged to monitor The Decatur Minute at www.thedecaturminute.com.

Last year rain washed out Decatur's fireworks on the Fourth of July, causing the city to reschedule on Sept. 24.

It could happen again. The city posted this notice on its website Monday.

Due to extreme weather conditions (heat and possible thunder storms), please be advised that the City of Decatur will be monitoring the temperatures on Wednesday, July 4th and may decide, in the interest of public safety, to cancel some or all of the planned holiday events including the Pied Piper Parade, the Concert on the Community Bandstand, and the fireworks.

Updates will be made via the City’s blog, www.thedecaturminute.com and we recommend that you check the site often for timely reports and possible schedule changes.
