Registration is now open for the fall season.

Seventy-five kids in the first through fifth grades participated last Friday in a youth football clinic at Decatur High School.

Registration for the fall season is now open at the Druid Hills Youth Football website, www.dhyf.org. Decatur is partnering with DHYF this year.

According to Alan Bach, the fourth-grade coach,

Teams are grade-based, with first and second graders playing flag football and all other youth playing tackle football. Practices begin July 23 and the season starts on August 25.  Some teams will practice at Druid Hills High School and some teams will practice at Decatur High School.  All teams will play home games at both Decatur High School and Druid Hills High School. All DHYF teams play in the North Metro Football League against teams from across the north metro area.

Brad Waggoner, the new Decatur High football coach, says healthy youth and middle school programs are the best way to revitalize the high school program.

Waggoner will also hold a summer football camp July 9 at the high school for players in kindergarten through eighth grade.

We have to promote our game to the young for it to survive. We cant be complacent, camps and clinics when run well, can help get kids interested. Nice work. http://winningyouthfootball.com
