21st Take Back the Night 5K

21st Take Back the Night 5K Planned for April 28 to Benefit DeKalb Rape Crisis Center

The 21st Take Back the Night 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 to benefit the DeKalb Rape Crisis Center (DRCC). The race begins and ends at historic Agnes Scott College and winds through the beautiful Oakhurst and East Lake communities. This race is perfect for those runners who do not like to wake up early! The one mile begins at 5 p.m. and the 5K begins at 5:30 p.m. Stay after the race for Decatur's largest pizza party, children’s activities and awards. Decatur band “JoyScout” will play their blend of folk, rock and alternative contry.

Register online at www.active.com  or in-person at any Phidippides location. Adult registration is $25 through April 20 and $30 after April 20. Youth registration, ages 12 & under, is $15 through April 20 and $20 after April 20. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this family-friendly event! The race will be held rain or shine.

DRCC’s Take Back the Night event is held in conjunction with Sexual Assault Awareness Month. DRCC provides counseling to hundreds of survivors of sexual assault annually, support to their loved ones and prevention education.  Working together, we can raise awareness, change attitudes and help prevent sexual assault.
