DHS Lacrosse Team Advances To State Tourney Semifinals

The Decatur High Bulldogs face Westminster at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Decatur Stadium.

The Decatur High boys lacrosse team faces Westminster on Tuesday night in its quest for a state championship.

The game starts at 6:30 p.m. in Decatur Stadium. Tickets are $7. Bulldog cards are not accepted for the playoffs.

If Decatur wins the semifinal game Tuesday, the team would play in the championship game Saturday. Decatur earned the home-field advantage because of its top seed.

Decatur has already beaten Westminster this year, winning 10-7 in an April 5 game in Decatur.

Head coach Wesley Hatfield said the team has been shooting for the state crown all year, according to a recent story in the DeKalb Neighbor Newspaper.

He said, β€œWith an enormous senior class we knew this team had a chance to do something special, and so far they have. As far as we are concerned right now, it’s state championship or bust.”

Last Friday, the Bulldogs defeated Blessed Trinity 13-6 in the quarterfinals of the A-AAAAA tournament.

Decatur had a 16-2 regular season record, with the only losses coming at the hands of larger schools.
