Two Georgia Perimeter Students Win Distinguished Scholarship

Two students from Georgia Perimeter College are now on the impressive list of students from the school who have won the coveted and prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Scholarship.

Trung Quach, 21, and Matthew Tate, 22, have become the 11th and 12th students of GPC who earned the scholarship since it was first offered in 2002.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is the largest private scholarship foundation for two-year colleges in the country and provides up to $30,000 a year for three years of education to low-income students seeking an undergraduate degree at an accredited, four-year university.

Quach, a native of Vietnam and biology major, says he will use his scholarship money to attend Georgia Tech. Tate, a science major living in Monroe, says he will do the same.

Quach boasts a 4.0 GPA and will go on to major in biochemistry when he goes to Tech. Tate has a 3.9 GPA and will major in electrical engineering.

“I had a lot of people praying for me,” Tate said. “I doubt more college would be possible without this scholarship.”
