Run With the Dogs 5K for Decatur Bulldog Boosters is Jan. 14

The Run With the Dogs 5K is an annual fundraiser for the athletic programs at Decatur High School and Renfroe Middle School.

The Decatur Bulldog Boosters will hold its Ninth Annual Run With the Dogs 5K on Jan. 11, 2014, at 9 a.m. in front of the Decatur High School Gym.

This 5K run/walk is unique in that participants are invited to bring their canine companions along for a brisk morning trek through the streets of the Decatur community. T-shirts, awards and snacks will be available to event participants including a sporty “race-kerchief” for canine participants.

The Run With the Dogs 5K is an annual fundraiser for the athletic programs at Decatur High School and Renfroe Middle School. Because no school district money can be used to purchase uniforms and equipment or to purchase recognition awards, the Decatur Bulldog Boosters raise money annually to meet these needs for their student-athletes. These funds are used to support all 25 teams representing 14 sports at Decatur High and Renfroe Middle schools.

The Run With the Dogs 5K also will be the first run/walk event of Decatur’s 2014 Grand Slam Fitness Challenge. This challenge, built around five local 5K run/walk events, encourages everyone to be physically active year round.

Awards for the 2013 Grand Slam Fitness Challenge winners will be presented by the city at the end of this event.
