Record Crowd Attends Decatur Education Foundation's Low Country Boil

More than 400 guests enjoyed live music, shrimp and adult beverages at fund-raiser.

More than 400 guests attended the Low Country Boil Thursday night at the Solarium in Oakhurst, a new record for the event, according to DEF Executive Director Gail Rothman.

While dodging occational raindrops, guests enjoyed live music, adult beverages, boiled shrimp and jambalaya.

The event also raised money from silent auctions for vacations in Costa Rica, Fripp Island, Beaufort, S.C., Savannah, Hilton Head, St. Simons Island, Seagvoe Beach and Lake Santeelah.

Patrons could also donate to "mission" auction items -- opportunities to pledge support for a particular DEF program.
