Preschool Moves to New Site

Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool will start classes Sept. 6 in a building leased from a Baptist Church.

Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool starts classes Sept. 6 at a new facility at 830 W. College Ave. in Decatur. The preschool is leasing a building from in Oakhurst. The school formerly operated out of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany at 2089 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE. 

In a press release, the preschool told about the move:

This new location will better accommodate OCP students, families, and the community with generous classroom and green space.  The building offers approximately 4,500 square feet for classroom and community activities, as well as over 6,000 square feet of green space for outside play, exploration, and gardening.

The 2011 school year will kick off on Tuesday, September 6, 2011, and the end date of the semester is Tuesday, December 20, 2011 (coinciding with the City Schools of Decatur academic calendar).

“This is exciting and satisfying news for us to share with the Decatur community and surrounding neighborhoods,” said Christine Cox, President of Oakhurst Cooperative Preschool.  “The board, our committees, and the parent community of our school have worked tremendously hard to make this a reality, and we are thrilled that it will help us to advance our strategic goals and mission.”

There are currently one or two spaces left in most classes for older 2's, 3's and 4's.  OCP Board Member Julie Vazquez urges families to contact the school quickly so they can get fully enrolled before the fast-approaching start of school.  Contact Julie at admissions@oakhurstcoop.com for more information about enrollment.

OCP is a Decatur-based preschool offering morning classes five days a week for children two to four years old. It is a non-profit, parent cooperative, operated by its members.
