Decatur Parents Invited To Discuss School Renovations

Oakhurst Elementary, the 4/5 Academy and Renfroe Middle will be enlarged or renovated.

The Decatur School System is inviting parents to forums next week on building plans at three schools.

Here is the schedule of meetings:

  • Oakhurst Elementary. At the school from 6-7 p.m. Monday, June 25.
  • 4/5 Academy. At the school from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 26.
  • Renfroe Middle. At the school from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 27.

The school system is preparing a new capital improvement program and these schools will be enlarged or renovated.

At , for example, four classrooms will be demolished and eight new classrooms added. Four classrooms will be added to the . The old gym may be converted into four to six classrooms.

The work will be paid for mostly with money from the countywide SPLOST (special local option sales tax) that voters approved last year.
