Decatur High Career Academy Cuts the Ribbon

Ceremony held Thursday morning

A new career education facility for students officially opened Thursday morning, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle and State School Superintendent Dr. John Barge.

The Decatur Career Academy is designed to offer students the opportunity to earn an associate degree and career training through or DeKalb Technical College while earning their high school diploma.

In 2009, City Schools of Decatur was awarded $3 million from the state to open one of Georgia’s newest career academies for high school students.

Also in attendence at the event were Decatur Schools Superintendent Dr. Phyllis Edwards and school board Chairman Marc Wisniewski.
