Fiddler to Lead Christmas Celebration Sunday

Traditional Irish fiddler Moira Nelligan will lead a family Christmas concert in downtown Decatur.

A kid-friendly family Christmas concert will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Decatur with fiddle tunes, songs, stories and dances from Celtic lands, Appalachia and Georgia.

The concert will be held at the Sycamore Place Gallery at 120 Sycamore Place. Admission is $15 for adults and kids 12 and up, $10 for children and free for children under 2.

Fiddler/singer Moira Nelligan of "The Music Class" program for young children will perform along with her band the Dixie Jigs with George Norman and Mickey Nelligan.

Also performing will be actor/artist Michael Hickey presenting the ancient art of Irish mask theater called "mumming" and Irish dancers from the Atlanta Irish Dance Troupe.

You can purchase tickets online or at the door. Parking is available on street or on the grassy lot behind Fellini's.

Right after the show, the public can join the Nelligan School of Traditional Music for the monthly Second Sunday Jam and potluck from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

This monthly jam is  free and open to the public. Everybody is invited to bring a dish to share or grab a pizza from Fellini's next door.
