Lenox Place Parents Hold Protest 'Walk' Over Rezoning

by Paul Donsky

As City of Decatur residents continue to debate next year's K-3 rezoning, the families of the Lenox Place neighborhood want City Schools of Decatur to know that "Lenox Place Walks."

Parents and their children held a protest "walk" Thursday night to draw attention to the issue.

Lenox Placers are advocating to remain zoned for Oakhurst Elementary because of the school's close proximity to their neighborhood. The alternative proposed school for the neighborhood, Westchester Elementary, is almost two miles away for some residents.

Lenox Place residents are urging school officials to leave the neighborhood at its neighborhood school – Oakhurst Elementary.
