Flags Placed in Decatur Cemetery For Memorial Day

The Closeup Club from Decatur High will remove the American flags at 6 p.m. Monday

A Memorial Day tradition was observed Thursday in Decatur.

The Closeup Club from Decatur High placed American flags on veterans' graves in the Decatur Cemetery.

At 6 p.m. Monday, club members plan to remove the flags while a bagpipper plays, said Chris Billingsley, a retired teacher who still helps with the Closeup Club.

Anybody who wants to help or simply honor the veterans buried in Decatur is invited.

The cemetery is the resting place for veterans from the American Revolution to the recent conflicts in the Middle East.
