Founded in 1788, the Linen Hall is the oldest library in Belfast. Renowned for its Irish literary and political collections, the library began collecting material from and about the Northern Ireland “Troubles” at the very outset of civil unrest in 1968. The current librarian, John Killen, will speak about these collections, particularly the award-winning exhibition of political posters, “Troubled Images” and its connections to civil rights in the American South. Free and open to the public. Sponsored by the Consulate General of Ireland in Atlanta, Emory’s Irish Studies Program, and the Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library (MARBL) at Emory.
