Educator Brings Home New Tech Tips For Grade School Learning

A Hawthorne Elementary School library media specialist participated in workshops and seminars, learning how to use the latest technology for digital learning.

Classrooms across the country are finding new ways to use technology to improve learning experiences for students. Sue Levine, a library media specialist from Hawthorne Elementary School in DeKalb County recently attended the Discovery Educator Network Summer Institute.

Discovery Education, a digital content and technology company, invited Levine and 149 other educators from the United States, Canada and United Kingdom to Vanderbilt University in Nashville for a week of seminars and workshops on the latest technology to reach and engage students.

“This experience has allowed me to learn from and connect with other enthusiastic educators who share a passion for incorporating digital resources in our students’ education,” Levine said, according to a press release.

Speakers at the event included Adam Bellow, founder and President of edutecher and eduClipper, Dr. Lodge McCammon, noted educational consultant, Greg Siers, director of Live Production and Technology at Discovery Communications and Wyatt Channell, executive producer of Science Channel.

Levine also participated in workshops that focused on creating and using digital content and integrating web-based tools into the classroom.

“Sue’s selection for the DENSI demonstrates her outstanding leadership and commitment to using the most innovative methods to enhance students’ learning and classroom experiences,” said Lance Rougeux, vice president of learning communities and instructional implementation for Discovery Education.
