DHS Student Max Waterhouse Takes Leadership Position in SkillsUSA

He and teacher Mark Jones will tour the state in the coming year.

Max Waterhouse, , has been elected one of seven state officers for SkillsUSA, a vocational education organization formerly known as VICA.

The Decatur school system said Max will travel Georgia representing his high school and SkillsUSA.

In June, Max and Mark Jones, DHS graphic communications and design instructor, will travel to the SkillsUSA National Championship Leadership Conference in Kansas City.

Max previously served as a Region 3 vice president for SkillsUSA Georgia. He's also vice president of the Decatur High sophomore class and a member of the school wrestling team. He has participated in the Dwarf Athletic Association of America National Games.

According to its website, SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.
