DHS Girls Win, Boys Lose At Grady

Girls team remains unbeaten with 67-32 victory.

Decatur High’s boys squandered a late lead in dropping a 62-53 overtime decision at Grady Tuesday night. The loss was the first in four decisions for the Bulldogs this season.

Meanwhile, the girls remained unbeaten by squashing Grady 67-32. Junior point Jordan Dillard had a Decatur career-high of 29 points, while senior Queen Alford had 24, which is about what she’s averaging for the season.

The girls, now 4-0, have won by an average margin of 31.25 points per game.

The boys led most of the first half, and seemed to have matters under control with an eight-point edge after three quarters. They still led by five inside a minute, but the home team tied it with only seconds left in regulation, and had no problem cleaning up in overtime.

Senior Desmond Tuft led Decatur in scoring with 15 points, while sophomore Murad Dillard had 11. Sophomore Davante Meadows added 10 points, while senior point Kurt Robinson had eight assists, three blocks, three steals and five rebounds.

Coming into Tuesday Decatur had beaten Grady at least 14 straight times dating back to 2004 (Records are incomplete prior to the 2004-05 season).

Next: Decatur plays Friday at Blessed Trinity. Girls play at 7 p.m., boys at 8:30 p.m.
