DHS Close Up Club In Washington, D.C.

The Decatur High students will meet Georgia senators and congressmen during the visit.

The Decatur High Close Up Club is making its annual visit to Washington, D.C.

Chris Billingsley, a retired teacher who is still involved with the club, sent this photo and description of activities.

The Decatur High School Close Β Up Club arrived in Washington, D.C., this afternoon [Sunday] and spent time at Arlington Cemetery, paying respects at the grave of DHS grad Harry Edwards, seeing a wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns, and visiting the gravesite of John F. Kennedy.

Chris Curtis, DHS Social Studies teacher, is leading the group in a week-long citizenship training program. The students will be meeting Georgia senators and other members or Congress, national policy leaders, and lay a wreath at the WWII memorial on Friday in honor if the 35 Decatur boys who were killed during that conflict.
