DHS Coach Sees 'Real Test' in Opener at Grady

The game will be played at 8 p.m. at Grady Stadium in Atlanta.

After months of practice, the the football team will finally play under the Friday Night Lights.

The Bulldogs open their season Friday at Grady High School in Atlanta. The game starts at 8 p.m. (though the schedule on the DHS webpage says 7:30 p.m.)

says Grady went 7-3 last year and is loaded with seniors. They've made the playoffs with regularity in recent years.

Decatur, by contrast, is a very young team. The team was 4-6 last year, 18-23 under former head coach Price Jones.

"It will be a real test for our guys," Waggoner said.

Devontae Carter will start at quarterback for the Bulldogs. Seventy-two Decatur players will dress out.

The season started out well. Two weeks ago, Decatur beat Holy Innocents 14-6  in a scrimmage.

Good luck, Bulldogs. This is a stern test to start the new era of Decatur football. Regardless of the final score, I hope to see a lot of disciplined enthusiasm and a never give up attitude.
