DeKalb Students Picked for Elite Leadership Institute

Fourteen students from DeKalb County are among 74 teens building their leadership skills at a week-long Summer Youth Leadership Institute on the campus of Emory University.

The program is organized by 21st Century Leaders, a local non-profit leadership development organization for Georgia high school students, is hosting the camp at Emory University. The week-long program focuses on enhancing high school students’ skills, personal leadership and critical thinking while focusing on business.

“This is an opportunity for students to get hands-on experience with business professionals, community leaders, as well as build on their own leadership skills.” said Bob Watson, executive director of 21st Century Leaders. “This program, with our corporate partners involved has proven to be a valuable networking opportunity for our students during high school years and beyond.”

The DeKalb participants and their high schools are:

Summer Youth Leadership Institute (formerly known at G5!) at Emory University began in 2008 and has hosted over 520 Georgia high school students during that time.
