Decatur Schools To Hold Budget Workshop

The school board will meet at 8:30 a.m. Friday to hear budget presentations for individual schools and departments.

The Decatur School Board will hold an all-day work session on the 2013-14 budget starting at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Westchester Complex on Scott Boulevard.

The session will be held in Board Room 758 and is open to the public. This is an informational meeting so no formal votes will be taken.

The day will start with an overview and then a presentation on the budget needs of Decatur High.

After a break, the board will hear presentations on the Early Childhood Learning Center, the 4/5 Academy and the elementary schools.

After lunch, the board will talk about the needs of Renfroe Middle School and hear departmental budget presentations.

The board will hold its next monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. May 14. The timeline for budget discussions calls for tentative approval of the budget at that meeting.

The board meets June 11 and is expected to give final approval to the budget and tentative approval to the property tax millage rate. On July 9, the board is scheduld to give final approval to the millage rate.
