Decatur Schools Holding Forums on SPLOST Projects

The public is urged to attend the forums, which will be held Monday at Oakhurst Elementary, Wednesday at Renfroe Middle and Thursday at the 4/5 Academy.

Folks are still taking about the resounding defeat of the regional transportation sales tax referendum (a.k.a., TSPLOST), so it's easy to forget that voters approved a different SPLOST last November.

The schools SPLOST won on a countywide basis. Officials say it could raise up to $18 million over five years for the City Schools of Decatur.

To keep citizens informed about the CSD SPLOST projects, a series of community forums will be held next week. Here's what the school system says.

The City Schools of Decatur, Turner Construction and Stevens & Wilkinson will be hosting Community Forums in an effort to keep all parents and/or community members informed in regards to the upcoming SPLOST IV Capital Improvement Projects.

The project team will discuss the construction schedule, site logistics, safety, material and/or equipment deliveries, parking, construction hours, etc.

Please join us at Oakhurst Elementary on 10/01/12, Renfroe Middle School on 10/03/12, and 4/5 Academy on 10/04/12. The meetings will be held in the Media Center at each school from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Community Members will be encouraged to ask questions regarding the projects as well as meet the project team. Community Forums will be held at each of the above listed schools on a monthly basis.

Our goal is to keep the community informed throughout the entire construction process while also adding great value to our schools through these projects.
