Decatur School Board To Hold Retreat

Superintendent sends out message listing "academic accolades."

It’s not clear what the Decatur School Board will talk about Friday and Saturday at a board retreat at the Marriott Evergreen Conference Center at Stone Mountain. The agenda has not been released.

But the board got some good talking points in the days before the retreat. Superintendent Phyllis Edwards sent out a message Monday under the headline "City Schools of Decatur 2010-11 Academic Accolades." In it, Edwards describes some of the ways Decatur system kids are excelling.

Reading scores on the CRCT, for example, are among the highest in the state, she said.

The full message from Edwards can be found on the school system website.

The school board retreat starts at 9 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday. The administration promises to provide an agenda before Friday.
