Region 6-AA rival Buford returned to No. 1 in the AJC after its punishing 58-44 victory Saturday over last week’s No. 1 Lovett. Last week marked the return to Buford’s lineup of point guard Andraya Carter, the 2011 Class AA player of the year, who’s missed most of the season with a torn ACL.

It was rumored that the University of Tennessee, to which Carter verbally committed, wanted the star player to sit out her senior year so she could completely heal. But now that she’s returned, Carter will play next Tuesday when Buford hosts a rematch against Decatur. Buford won the first meeting 45-41 on Jan. 6.
