Avondale Estates Student To Speak At UGA Graduation

Emily HIggins, a public relations and psychology double major, will be honored at the fall graduation ceremony.

Emily Higgins of Avondale Estates will be a Distinguished Senior Orator at the Dec. 13 fall convocation ceremony for UGA's Grady College.

Higgins tied with another student for the highest grade point average among graduating seniors. The other student is Grayson Gresham from Winder, who will also speak.

Emily Higgins is a public relations and psychology double major and new media certificate recipient from Avondale Estates.

As an Honors student at UGA, she has been extensively involved in PRSSA and has also tried out other organizations including Ad Club, the Professional Entertainment and Sports Association (PESA) and WUOG.

Through Grady’s student-run public relations firm, Creative Consultants, Emily discovered a love for non-profit work with clients such as the Tumornators. Through the student-run advertising firm HSBT, Emily worked with acclaimed chef Hugh Acheson at award-winning Athens restaurant 5&10.

Emily also interned for Southern Company and Broadway in Atlanta. After graduation, Emily intends to move to Los Angeles to work behind the scenes in the entertainment industry while secretly aspiring to become the next Chelsea Handler.
