100 Percent of Current Students, Teachers Returning to Museum School

is moving to a new building next year and will take all its old students and teachers along.

The parent newsletter reports that 100 percent of current students plan to attend the school next year, and that all the school's certified teachers also expect to return.

The school received more than 270 applications for 65 openings and recently held a lottery to determine who got those spots, the newsletter said. The students not picked can be placed on wait lists.

According to a school press release,

The Museum School is one of 58 elementary schools statewide to receive a bronze award from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement for outstanding academic performance. 

The award is based on scores on state assessments during the 2010-2011 school year and presented to schools with at least 95 percent of students meeting or exceeding standard, with at least 20 percent of students exceeding standards.

Also in January, the Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries presented the charter school with the Education Award during its annual meeting in Baldwin County.
