New Convenience Store Opening on Decatur Square

The owner hopes Square Convenience Store will open in mid-April. It will be located near the Associated Credit Union and the Pita Pit.

A new convenience store is expected to open in about two weeks at 1 West Court Square in Decatur.

Square Convenience Store will operate next to the Associated Credit Union, in the space previously occupied by the Consumer Credit Counseling Service. The Pita Pit is in the same building.

Owner Kelly Seo already owns Shields Convenience Store on the Square at 145 Sycamore St., between Square Foot and Karma Boutique.

She said in a telephone interview that she noticed employees of Emory Healthcare seldom walked across the square to Shield's.

"If I offered a store in that space it would be more convenience for them," she said.

The two stores will have similar merchandise--sodas, snacks and lottery tickets. Neither store will sell beer or wine, Seo said.
