DeKalb County Hosting Meetings on Vacant Property Registry

The DeKalb Vacant Property Registry aims to protect neighborhoods from blight.

DeKalb County is hosting a number of public information meetings to discuss its recently established DeKalb Vacant Property Registry and how it will impact neighborhoods.

All public information meetings are scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 Porter Sanford Performing Arts Center, 3181 Rainbow Dr., Decatur
  • Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 Manuel J. Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Dr., Decatur
  • Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 Wade Walker YMCA, 5605 Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain

Improperly maintained and unsecured vacant properties can become a hazard to the health and safety to the general public and can negatively affect the aesthetic and economic attributes of communities.

Difficulties often arise in locating the person responsible for maintenance of vacant properties. The DeKalb Vacant Property Registry will be utilized as a tool to comprehensively address these concerns.

The DeKalb County Code Compliance Code Compliance Division enforces codes/ordinances related to property maintenance, zoning, planning, special land use, signs and permits in a fair, transparent, timely and consistent manner.
