Craft Beer Store Opens On Clairmont Road

Decaturites have yet another place to buy craft beer.

Taps Craft Beers opened May 31 in the Emory Walk Shopping Center at Clarimont and North Decatur roads, just outside the Decatur city limits. The store is next to Los Loros Mexican restaurant.

Lance Mondel said he was inspired to open the business after enjoying craft beer and growlers while visiting his son in Bend, Oregon.

When he and his wife, Tess, returned to Georgia they discovered the state had recently legalized growlers.

"It was like, 'Wow,' this is perfect," he said. "And Decatur is the perfect place to locate it."

Mondel said the store has about 40 beverages on tap, almost all for beer, and about 250 kinds of bottled beer.
