Wanted: Hometown Heroes

Residents have until Sept. 15 to nominate people who have worked to improve the community.

This is your chance to say thanks to the people who make Decatur a good place to live.

The is seeking nominations for the 2011 Hometown Heroes. Residents have until Sept. 15 to suggest people who should be honored.

The city started the Hometown Hero program in 1996. Last year's group of 13 included residents who worked for neighborhood park associations, assisted war refugees, helped in the Oakhurst Community garden and served 18 years on the city planning commission.

Nomination forms are available at www.decaturga.com or at City Hall, 509 N. McDonough St., second floor, Community & Economic Development department. You may also write an essay describing your Hometown Hero and what he/she has contributed to the Decatur com- munity.For more information call 678-553-6548 or email leeann.harvey@decaturga.com.
